The photo’s that Father Browne took on that journey are the only one’s that survived of people on the ship at sea. They are generally available to the public but Dr Martin has authorisation to offer for sale the six most closely with Cobh.

Francis Browne, a Jesuit priest, was “a master photographer with an unerring eye” and his photographic collection contains the only visual chronicle of photographs of the Titanic as she anchored and left Queenstown (Cobh) in Ireland to set across the Atlantic. Father Browne had travelled as a passenger on the Titanic from Southampton to Cobh Ireland to visit his Uncle who was the Bishop of Cloyne. On the journey he requested permission from his religious superior to remain on board as far as New York but was fortunately ordered by his Principal to “GET OFF THAT SHIP”.
